Retail loyalty and trade-marketing suite

Industry
Consumer goods / FMCG
Period
2020 – present

Six years of building for a consumer-goods group — campaign tooling for shoppers, a rewards ledger for the trade, a POS app for field staff, and the integrations that tie them together.

A founders' engagement from before Spoon Studio existed, anonymised at the client's request.

A consumer-goods group was running national promotions through thousands of independent stores, and the paper trail stopped at each regional office. Nobody could follow a shopper campaign through to the shopkeeper who honoured it, so incentive payouts were slow and disputes were common.

The founders started with the shopper side: a campaign management system that let the marketing team publish mechanics, landing pages and SMS entry points without a developer in the loop. Once that was live, the harder problem came into view — rewarding the wholesalers and retailers who moved the product. A points and redemption ledger followed, with voucher issuance and a reconciliation layer so finance could pay out incentives from an auditable record rather than from spreadsheets.

The last major piece was a point-of-sale and stock-count app used every day by field teams on Android and iOS, feeding sales and inventory back into the same platform. Along the way, more than a dozen partner systems were wired in, and the whole estate was moved into the client’s own cloud account and reviewed against their internal security bar.

Six years on, the suite is still the system of record for the programme. It is the engagement that taught the founders how to keep a large, multi-team codebase healthy while shipping continuously.
