Telehealth consultations for a retail chain

Industry

Period

A video-consultation service for a health and beauty retailer — patient and clinician portals around an open-source video core, with four isolated environments deployable from a pull request.

A founders' engagement from before Spoon Studio existed, anonymised at the client's request.

A health and beauty retailer wanted to add remote consultations to what it already offered in-store, and it wanted to do so without paying to invent video conferencing.

The founders built the consultation flow on an open-source video stack and put the product work where it mattered: a patient portal for booking, intake forms and past consultations, and a clinician portal for managing the queue and writing up each session. A companion mobile app gives patients the same booking and join experience on a phone.

The operational requirement was unusual. The client needed to demo to stakeholders, test new features, run acceptance with real clinicians, and serve patients — often all in the same week. So instead of one contested staging server, four fully separate environments were stood up, each fronted by zero-trust access and each with its own deploy pipeline from GitHub. A branch can be reviewed in its own environment within minutes of a push.

The result is a telehealth service the client can change with confidence, because what is being tested and what patients are using never share a server.
